Sculpture Sur Glace... :)

Yesterday(Feb 25th) was the day I was waiting since the week before because I get to know that we were going to do some ICE CARVING!!!!!! Wohoooo!!! Hehehehe… :P… but I was late that morning… half an hour late to be exact…. Woke up late that morning because I forgot to set the alarm…:S…. Luckily the rest of my group members haven’t started yet and were given explanation about the tools and general stuffs about ice carving… :P… there's a lot of tools used for carving ice… including chain saw, chisel, saw, some rotary tools and so on… plus they are not cheap…

The Ice Block

We're gonna use a few of the tools yesterday... chisel(a few types of it), chainsaw, and some other... we were asked to wear gloves to throughout the whole process... because of the ice was so cold... duhh!!!? hehehehe... :P... and helps reduce the risk of getting cuts from the sharp chisel while carving... in this CAD(Culinary Arts & Design) class, we were divided into 3 groups... each group gets one big block of ice... btw we we're also explained on how to handle the ice block as well to prevent it from shattering and so on... :)

Cutting the ice into two with the saw... didn't get a pic of me cutting with a chainsaw... :(

1st of all we were ask to trim the sides of the huge ice block and cut it into two... :)... we're going to make a square container and a leaf bowl... :)... there's 4 of us in the group... at 1st all of us were at the 1st block doing the container... then Chef asked me to start carving the leaf bowl.. ehehehe... by my self!!! wahahahahahahahahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carving the Ice Container... :)

Got myself the tools required and started the leaf bowl straight away... hehehe... i love this... :)... but the thing about ice carving is that, it is so damn tiring!!!! sweating throughout the whole process of carving them... :S.... anyway... i don't mind... because i love doing this... wahhaha...

Me carving the "Leaf Bowl"

The Leaf Bowl pics... :P

i did mine slightly different from what was suppose to be like... :P... the inner part of the bowl was curved instead of edgy which was supposed to be like... hehe... i like it curved better since it looks more natural... hehaahaha... :P... plus the sides i did not follow the starting design.... i followed the leaf design i did on my previous pumpkin leaf... hehehe... :P.... haha... mine was abit different... then the other group ciplak(copied) my leaf bowl pattern... wahahhaha... :P... i don't mind anyway... we all there to learn... :)...

Group Photo with our ices... :P

Our ices are thrown into the drain...we have to... :(

Ice carving was really really fun but in the same time its very tiring... although it was cold... but still we will sweat while carving them... it takes some effort to get it done since it is very hard... and we need to be careful not to hit to hard to avoid for getting it ruined and shatter... :P..

Fleur Sculpture!!!!!

Tomorrow(23 feb 2011) is my friends birthday and was thinking of making something for her(Jenny Lim to be exact)... thought of making carvings but no idea our of what... the last post was about me learning fruit carvings and stuffs in CAD(Culinary Arts & Design) class... if fruits or vegies weren't ment to be kept in a long period... out of wood might consume me a few days to finish it i think...

Then i remmembered wat i learned when i was 10 years old, i learned to carve on soaps in arts class... :)... but simple designs of course... made a heart shape and so on which is very very simple... :).. then thought of using soap with the design of carving that i learned from fruit carvings in CAD Class...

:)... got my self a block of soap and cut the sides so it fits in a box that i am gonna place it into...

Cut The sides and made a circle line..

Made a deep groove and made lines for the leafs...

Made the leaves... took me around one and half hour... just the leafs... :P

Started to make the flower in the middle... took me an hour to get the shape... :P

Refining tho whole thing... slightly more than half an hour... :P

All done... :)...

The whole process took me 3 hours to make... :)... just stop to get drinks only and then straight on continue doing... wahahhaha... :P... well... it worth the time and the outcome was awesome!!!... hehehehe... :P... Hope that Jenny Lim a.k.a Bak Bao, would love this.. hahahaha... :P

Which is actually my favourite class for my course in KDU... :)... i was an art student before and love arts as well... but to to the extend of beeing hyperly into arts stream... in Culinary course i could develop my skills and passion for arts and food(cooking)... hehe...

well.... i love carvings... :)... the 1st class of CAD we did vegetables carvings... making leaves shapes out of cucumber, flowers out of chillies... flowers out of radish, potatoes and so on... in the end we arrange all those carvings to make this Vegetable Floral Bouquet...

The fourth class was this morning... :P... we made watermelon carving... :P... hehehe... some flower at the top and leaves at the sides... damn tidious... takes time and need to pay attention when beeing thought of the method of doing.. :S... its beeing shown in stages when doing this... the chef shown us the first layer and stuff, then we follow... after done with one then goes the rest of the layers and stages... :P... turned out damn pretty... :P... i love it...

Twisted "Fox in Socks" Twister

Found this tongue-twister posted somewhere... kinda interesting... Fox in Socks is a children's book by Dr. Seuss, first published in 1965. It features two main characters, Fox and his partner Knox, who converse almost entirely in densely rhyming tongue-twisters... try to read it out loud and constant... :P...
Fox
Socks
Box
Knox

Knox in box.
Fox in socks.

Knox on fox in socks in box.

Socks on Knox and Knox in box.

Fox in socks on box on Knox.

Chicks with bricks come.
Chicks with blocks come.
Chicks with bricks and blocks and clocks come.

Look, sir. Look, sir. Mr. Knox, sir.
Let's do tricks with bricks and blocks, sir.
Let's do tricks with chicks and clocks, sir.

First, I'll make a quick trick brick stack.
Then I'll make a quick trick block stack.

You can make a quick trick chick stack.
You can make a quick trick clock stack.

And here's a new trick, Mr. Knox....
Socks on chicks and chicks on fox.
Fox on clocks on bricks and blocks.
Bricks and blocks on Knox on box.

Now we come to ticks and tocks, sir.
Try to say this Mr. Knox, sir....

Clocks on fox tick.
Clocks on Knox tock.
Six sick bricks tick.
Six sick chicks tock.

Please, sir. I don't like this trick, sir.
My tongue isn't quick or slick, sir.
I get all those ticks and clocks, sir,
mixed up with the chicks and tocks, sir.
I can't do it, Mr. Fox, sir.

I'm so sorry, Mr. Knox, sir.

Here's an easy game to play.
Here's an easy thing to say....

New socks.
Two socks.
Whose socks?
Sue's socks.

Who sews whose socks?
Sue sews Sue's socks.

Who sees who sew whose new socks, sir?
You see Sue sew Sue's new socks, sir.

That's not easy, Mr. Fox, sir.

Who comes? ...
Crow comes.
Slow Joe Crow comes.

Who sews crow's clothes?
Sue sews crow's clothes.
Slow Joe Crow sews whose clothes?
Sue's clothes.

Sue sews socks of fox in socks now.

Slow Joe Crow sews Knox in box now.

Sue sews rose on Slow Joe Crow's clothes.
Fox sews hose on Slow Joe Crow's nose.

Hose goes.
Rose grows.
Nose hose goes some.
Crow's rose grows some.

Mr. Fox!
I hate this game, sir.
This game makes my tongue quite lame, sir.

Mr. Knox, sir, what a shame, sir.

We'll find something new to do now.
Here is lots of new blue goo now.
New goo. Blue goo.
Gooey. Gooey.
Blue goo. New goo.
Gluey. Gluey.

Gooey goo for chewy chewing!
That's what that Goo-Goose is doing.
Do you choose to chew goo, too, sir?
If, sir, you, sir, choose to chew, sir,
with the Goo-Goose, chew, sir.
Do, sir.

Mr. Fox, sir,
I won't do it.
I can't say.
I won't chew it.

Very well, sir.
Step this way.
We'll find another game to play.

Bim comes.
Ben comes.
Bim brings Ben broom.
Ben brings Bim broom.

Ben bends Bim's broom.
Bim bends Ben's broom.
Bim's bends.
Ben's bends.
Ben's bent broom breaks.
Bim's bent broom breaks.

Ben's band. Bim's band.
Big bands. Pig bands.

Bim and Ben lead bands with brooms.
Ben's band bangs and Bim's band booms.

Pig band! Boom band!
Big band! Broom band!
My poor mouth can't say that. No, sir.
My poor mouth is much too slow, sir.

Well then... bring your mouth this way.
I'll find it something it can say.

Luke Luck likes lakes.
Luke's duck likes lakes.
Luke Luck licks lakes.
Luck's duck licks lakes.

Duck takes licks in lakes Luke Luck likes.
Luke Luck takes licks in lakes duck likes.

I can't blab such blibber blubber!
My tongue isn't make of rubber.

Mr. Knox. Now come now. Come now.
You don't have to be so dumb now....

Try to say this, Mr. Knox, please....

Through three cheese trees three free fleas flew.
While these fleas flew, freezy breeze blew.
Freezy breeze made these three trees freeze.
Freezy trees made these trees' cheese freeze.
That's what made these three free fleas sneeze.

Stop it! Stop it!
That's enough, sir.
I can't say such silly stuff, sir.

Very well, then, Mr. Knox, sir.

Let's have a little talk about tweetle beetles....

What do you know about tweetle beetles? Well...

When tweetle beetles fight,
it's called a tweetle beetle battle.

And when they battle in a puddle,
it's a tweetle beetle puddle battle.

AND when tweetle beetles battle with paddles in a puddle,
they call it a tweetle beetle puddle paddle battle.

AND...

When beetles battle beetles in a puddle paddle battle
and the beetle battle puddle is a puddle in a bottle...
...they call this a tweetle beetle bottle puddle paddle battle muddle.

AND...

When beetles fight these battles in a bottle with their paddles
and the bottle's on a poodle and the poodle's eating noodles...
...they call this a muddle puddle tweetle poodle beetle noodle
bottle paddle battle.

AND...

Now wait a minute, Mr. Socks Fox!

When a fox is in the bottle where the tweetle beetles battle
with their paddles in a puddle on a noodle-eating poodle,
THIS is what they call...

...a tweetle beetle noodle poodle bottled paddled
muddled duddled fuddled wuddled fox in socks, sir!

Fox in socks, our game is done, sir.
Thank you for a lot of fun, sir.
